strategies for social change. The Canadian Institute for Research on Economic Justice (CIREJ) is led by the Canadian Center for Women Empowerment (CCFWE). Our members consist of a diverse, interdisciplinary team of researchers and practitioners from Canadian universities across the country. We bring expertise in various areas, including economic justice, gendered violence (such as violence against women and children, intimate partner violence, and sexual violence), intersectionality, and the legal and non-legal regulation of violence. Through collaborative efforts and interdisciplinary approaches, we strive to advance understanding, promote equality, and advocate for policy changes that addres.
Our mission is to facilitate innovative interdisciplinary projects that leverage cutting-edge research to shape public policy and cultivate a fair and equitable society in Canada. Drawing on expertise from scholars across various universities, we aim to be a dynamic hub for comprehensive research, insightful analysis, and impactful initiatives in the fields of economic justice and Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Our goal is to ensure that research is accessible to all by bridging economic theory with actionable strategies for social change.

The Membership and Fundraising Committee develops strategies to expand CIREJ’s financial resources and grow our membership base. They identify fundraising opportunities and propose activities to enhance our sustainability. This committee plays a vital role in securing resources to support our research and initiatives. The Participation in UN Activities Committee coordinates CIREJ’s engagement with UN initiatives related to economic justice. They advocate for our participation in UN committees and conferences, and develop partnerships with other organizations to amplify our impact globally. The Action and Mobilization Committee spearheads efforts to create bills and legislations for the advancement of economic justice, utilizing CIREJ’s research findings.
